Roulous was once the first capital of the Khmer Empire. The Roulous temples are the earliest temples built by the Khmer. Today the “Roulous group” is composed by three major temples: Bakong, Lolei and Preah Koh.
Located 40 km from Angkor Wat I took a remork (tuktuk) for one day to visit the ruins of the Beng Melea Temple. It was a beautiful tour through the small villages and the landscape of Cambodia.
Banteay Srei means “temple for women”. Located 20 km from Angkor Wat but still in the area of Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the 10th century and dedicated to Shiva (hinduism).
Trees growing out of the ruins of the Temple Ta Prohm, that´s why the temple is today one of the most famous temples in Angkor Wat. Tetrameles nudiflora is the name of one of the two predominate species of trees in the temple area.
