Flight from Bangkok to Siem Reap

Flight from the International Airport Bangkok Suvarnabhumi with Bangkok Airways to Siem Reap. The stewardesses give formulars for the visa in Cambodia to every passenger. So I could fill out the formulars during the flight. To get a tourist visa for Cambodia you need this filled formulars + an actually photo + 30 US-Dollar. At the airport in Siem Reap are airport-taxis which bring you into the city of Siem Reap. The flight was about 1 hour.

Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Bangkok

The Sri Maha Mariamman Tempel is a hinduistic temple located in the Silom Road in Bangkok. Text from the information board beside the temple:

“The temple is commonly called WAT KHAEK SILOM. It is a temple of Goddess UMA, consort of Shiva, built around 1879 by group of Indian lived in Bangkok on the purchased land on Silom Road. At first it was built a small SALA (Pavilion) and named SALA SRI MARI AMMAN. It was in custody of Tamil Indian who brought Indian civilization to other areas of Asia. In later years, Indian settlers in Silom and other areas of Bangkok gave their contribution to built the temple. Sculpture of Goddess UMA was installed inside the temple as the principle image and later images of other Hindu Gods and Goddesses were brought from India to be in the temple area. The ancient festival called DUSHERA or NAVARATI is held at the temple annually. The ritual is performed by worship of UMA and other Gods for ten days – ten nights. At last night of the festival the image of UMA is carrying in procession along the road.”
