The Temple of Literature in Hanoi

The Temple of Literature in Hanoi (or Van Mieu) is dedicated to Confuzius. The temple is Vietnam´s principal Confucian sanctuary and its historical centre of learning.

The temple´s groundplan, modelled on that of Confuzius´s birthplace in Qufu, China, consists of a succession of five walled courty yards. The temple was built in the year 1070.
