Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi, Vietnam

On the Long Bien Bridge two ramps take bicycles and pedestrians and one is working as rail bridge. The bridge was built in 1902 by the architects Payde & Pillé from Paris and is 1700 m long. I took a walk on the bridge crossing the red river. The bridge is not only a traffic construction, a awesome architecture but also a living historical relic. During the Vietnam War this was one of Vietnam´s most heavily defended spots which American bombs never managed to knock out completely.
